An fun hockey event that is not part of our MSH regular season. Participation is optional for players, coaches and volunteers. Players and teams typically travel to a host city to play 3 games over a few days. There are often fun non-hockey activities as well! Sometimes we have time to do touristy things in the community.

There have been all sorts of different festivals over the years. Currently, local festivals like the Alexandria Jamboree and the Hendrickson Foundation Festival, and national festivals like the USA Hockey Festival and the Special Hockey International Festival are the usual ones we attend. That may change in the future as new festivals pop up.

Festivals can be at any time of the year! Sometimes the USA Hockey festival is at the beginning of the season. The Alexandria Jamboree is often in January. The SHI festival is often in the spring. And the Hendrickson Foundation Festival is often in June.

All over! The Alexandria Jamboree and Hendrickson Foundation Festival are always in Minnesota. The others are in different cities each year, sometimes in the US, sometimes in Canada...and on the rare occasion overseas!

Travel to the local festivals is up to you. For travel to national festivals we sometimes provide a free bus when the host city is close enough, otherwise participants book their own flights. When a bus is provided it is usually free for the player and one companion. Extra guests of the player can also ride the bus for a small fee.

Local festivals have optional hotels available to stay if you choose, typically at your own cost. National festivals usually have our entire team stay at one hotel, also at the cost of each player.

Costs can and do vary for each event and each year so we can't give exact amounts. For example: For national festivals it's $50 to sign up. MSH covers bus travel for each player and 1 guest. It's about $150 for each extra guest. Participants pay for their own flights if they choose to fly. Everyone pays for their hotel room for the weekend. MSH typically covers and hosts a team meal one night and the usually the festival has its own dinner that sometimes has a small cost per person. You can also buy event apparel if you want.

All communication regarding festivals is through the weekly newsletter. We will send information out as soon as we have a plan in place. We will try to give you as much time as possible to decide if you want to attend. You can direct any questions to your team manager.

Pretty much the same as our jamboree style games between skill based teams. Same length of time, same rules, no icing, no offsides, no checking. But against teams from other cities and countries!

For some of the higher skill level games, sometimes we make an agreement with the other team to change lines on the fly or maybe have offsides and icing.

Each event is a little different but often there is a dinner, a dance, social time, pin trading and more. MSH hosts a team dinner one night and other fun activities like bingo, card games, pool games and more. Sometimes there is time for us to go out into the community and see the sights!

All event information communicated while at the national festivals is through the GroupMe app. You will be given an opportunity before the event to download the app and use a QR code to connect to the group. Make sure your notifications are on so you don't miss out on important messages!
