2.  **** Hendrickson Festival Silent Auction Request ****

The silent auction at the Hendrickson Festival is a big fundraiser and they are looking for help with donations.  Here is a letter from the HF Silent Auction Coordinator:

"On behalf of the annual Hendrickson Foundation National Hockey Festival, we are writing to request your support with a donation to our silent auction fundraiser.

We believe hockey is for everyone, and Hockey Changes Lives. Hendrickson Foundation strives to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities, and their families through the game of hockey. Our focus is to make hockey accessible for all who want to play the game. By supporting adaptive and Warrior hockey programs’ growth and participation nationwide, we aim to break barriers and promote inclusivity in the game.

The festival will take place on June 2nd-5th. We will host upwards of 60 adaptive and military hockey teams and thousands of attendees for a weekend of tournament play, an exciting celebrity game and events.

We would be grateful for any donation you might consider for our silent/live auction, with all proceeds directly benefiting athletes with disabilities. Auction donors will be recognized on event signage at the hockey festival.

If you would like to make a donation, please contact Krystel via email, phone or text at the contact information below. We hope to receive all donations by May 1st. Item pickup arrangements are available. Donation receipts will be sent for your tax records.  Thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration!

With Gratitude,
 Krystel Reierson

1.   ***** Minnesota Diversified Hockey Night at the Wild - Register by March 27th *****

Once again this year, MN Wild Special Hockey players and families have the opportunity to participate in the Minnesota Diversified Hockey Night at a Wild game in St. Paul.  This is a terrific opportunity for us to spread the word about Special Hockey. We have several opportunities for MN Wild Special Hockey players and families to participate and volunteer.

Event Details:
Date: Sunday, April 17th, arrive before 3:00 pm.  This is the time when everyone who wants to participate in any of the activities must arrive to get into the arena.  Late arrivals may miss out.  The game starts at 5:00 pm.
Where: Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul, MN.
What: MN Wild vs. San Jose Sharks

What are the activities?

·         Program Sellers - 30 people

·         Zamboni Riders - 4 people

·         Players/Coaches for Scrimmage - 18 skaters

·         MN Special Hockey Table - 4 people

Program Sellers - 30 People:

We need a combination of players and non-players (including adults). Selling programs is a lot of fun!  Once completed (about the end of the 1st period), you get to sit down and enjoy the rest of the game.  You will not have a ticket for a seat, but can find open seats at the rink once you are done selling.

Zamboni Riders - 4 People:

You will be given waivers to sign in order to participate. Two will ride before the game, two will ride during the 1st intermission.

Players/Coaches for Scrimmage - 18 skaters:

Skating will happen during the 2nd intermission. We also need coaches to help on the ice.

MN Special Hockey Table - 4 people:

Sit at a MN Special Hockey table in the concourse to represent the organization.  You will be responsible to answer questions about the program and give out information.  These volunteers will not be required to sit the entire time.  You can take turns and take breaks (especially while the game is going on and the concourse is less busy).

Minnesota Special Hockey is only given a limited number of tickets into the game. The 18 players and coaches skating will receive tickets, but only 1 ticket.  The 4 Zamboni riders will get tickets.  We can't guarantee any locations of where these seats are in the rink; it is very random, but is most likely in the upper concourse.

Additional tickets are available for purchase at a discounted rate.  Use this link to purchase: https://offer.fevo.com/wild-vs-sharks-te6cwa-f783b3d?fevoUri=wild-vs-sharks-te6cwa-f783b3d%2F   (We can't guarantee any locations of where these tickets are either.)

Everyone will be contacted about their assignments by Saturday April 2nd.

This registration will close on Sunday, March 27th.

1.  ***** USA Hockey Festival Registration Deadline Wednesday, January 5th *****

The USA Hockey Festival is on!  It is in Pittsburgh, PA, April 7th - 10th.

More information can be found at this site:  https://www.usahockey.com/page/show/903981?referrer_id=

The bus (or buses) will likely depart Wednesday on April 6th (the time depends on if we play on the 7th).  The locations of the departures are yet to be determined (dependent on registered players).  We will leave the festival early Sunday morning, April 10th.

Players under 18 are required to travel with a parent or legal guardian or someone that the parent agrees is responsible for the player.  Players over 18 are not required to travel with a legal guardian, but it is highly recommended and encouraged.  There are no chaperones, only organization leaders to ensure overall safety and responsible behavior to well represent MN Special Hockey.  If a player is over 18 and has a legal guardian, the player and legal guardian are required to sign a player agreement and provide emergency contact information.

Players that require 1-on-1 assistance on the bench or the ice may need to provide that person to help the player.  We cannot guarantee there will be someone that signs up to travel that can assist.

The level of play is dependent on the abilities and number of players that register.  USA Hockey has A, B, C and mixed levels of play.  We will attempt to create teams at these levels, all dependent on the registered players.

Costs:

-  Team Registration - Free, this is taken care of by MN Special Hockey

-  Hotel - Three nights of hotel stay at approximately $130 + tax per night.  Players can coordinate with each other to share rooms.  Once you register for this event, you will be emailed the information to book your hotel.  Everyone is required to stay in the same hotel.  We will be offering a couple scholarships.  More info on that to follow.

-  Transportation - There is no cost for a player and one parent/guardian to ride the bus.  Additional riders are charged $150 for riding.  If a player is flying or driving, they can ride the bus in Pittsburgh if there is room.

-  Meals - some will be provided by MN Special Hockey.  Most are the responsibility of the player.

Please fill out the following registration form if you are a player or volunteer and are planning on attending this event.  Please do not register to travel unless you can commit.  MN Special Hockey pays for the team registration, so if a player registers then cancels, it is a problem for our scheduling (hotels, bus, registration) and the game scheduling for the tournament.  Head Coaches, we may need more of you!  Please contact Tia if you need more information about his event.

Registration deadline is Wednesday, January 5, 2022.  We will not be able to add players after this date due to the information we need to supply to the tournament.

Use this link to register:  https://mnspecialhockey.sportngin.com/register/form/235221655

In order to divide up the teams, all players must register!  Deadline to register is January 1st, 2022.   Register here for the Alexandria Jamboree:   https://mnspecialhockey.sportngin.com/register/form/387496539

Questions?   Please contact Dale Adams at adamsdtsib@gmail.com or Chris Poshek at chrisposhek@mnspecialhockey.org.

3.  **** Player Safesport ****

There are still players who have not yet completed their Safesport training.   If this is not completed by December 24th players will NOT be allowed to participate in any MN Special Hockey events.
It is very important that any player born in 2004 or earlier complete the SafeSport Training or the Accommodation/Waiver.  USA Hockey changed the form and the correct document was not on the MSH website.  Please complete the correct form if you are completing the Accommodation/Waiver.   Please complete the training!  All information can be found here: SafeSport Training and Waiver (mnspecialhockey.org)

4.  **** Volunteer Safesport Training ****

All volunteers 18 years and older must complete SafeSport Training.  Training is required for your participation in Special Hockey.  Volunteers, please complete this!  https://www.usahockey.com/safesporttraining

5.   **** COVID-19 Policy for 2021-22 Season ****

Minnesota Special Hockey's Covid-related rules for the 2021-22 season will be consistent with all rules set forth by Minnesota Hockey and the local arenas.  Currently, Minnesota Hockey does not have any Covid rules for its members aside from following the rules implemented by the local arenas.

We continue to require all participants to fill out our Covid registration if they or someone in their household tests positive within 48 hours of attending a Special Hockey event. It is available at this link. You do not need to fill out a registration if you have been advised that you have been in close contact with someone who tested positive (a change from last year).

We are not mandating masks, but ask that anyone who is not vaccinated wear a mask to protect those who cannot be vaccinated and we recommend that all participants wear masks in close environments, such as in the locker room.

We will not require teams to shut down if someone who was at an event tested positive like we did last year.
A participant can return once 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared or the participant tested positive for COVID-19, 24 hours have passed since the participant last had a fever without the use of fever-reducing medications, and any symptoms have improved.
Our covid-19 page will continue to be updated with our policies over the season.
