Minnesota Special Hockey is proud to announce Haley Nielsen as the recipient of our first MSH Volunteer Scholarship award.  The objective of our scholarship program is to give back to those Minnesota Special Hockey volunteers who have positively impacted the MSH program or our Athletes with their unselfish volunteer efforts and actions on and off the ice.

Scholarship Qualifications:  

1.  Applications open to all Minnesota Special Hockey (MSH) volunteers who are at least in their junior year of High School and have been a registered and active volunteer in the MSH association for a minimum of two full seasons.

2. Applicants must be pursuing a degree at an accredited institution of higher education (ie:  Junior College, Technical College, Community College, College or University).

3.  Volunteers can apply, and may be awarded, a MSH Volunteer scholarship in more than one year.

Haley has been a volunteer with MSH since November, 2009 working with both the Wildcats and Moose teams.  In addition, she has participated in numerous “off ice” activities to help further lives of those with disabilities.  Examples of these activities include;  Promoting MSH at the Wright County Autism Resource Fair as well as leading a project team this past January in her AP Language & Composition class that created an in-depth presentation on those with disabilities and how people’s perceptions impact their interaction with others in the community.     This fall Haley will be attending UW – River Falls to pursue a degree in engineering. She will also be a member of the UW – River Falls women’s hockey team.  Congratulations to Haley and a huge THANK YOU to all of our MSH volunteers!!!!
