2. Hockey Without Limits Camp – Registration Deadline is Sunday, January 25th

It's time again for the 6th annual Hockey Without Limits Camp!

The Minnesota Wild is excited to host this event on Monday, February 16th at the John Rose Oval in Roseville (2661 Civic Center Dr, Roseville, MN 55113).  This is a free camp dedicated to providing an inclusive hockey experience in which new and current players of all ages, abilities, races and ethnicities play the game of hockey together.

Minnesota Special Hockey will have one hour of ice (likely half-ice) sometime between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm on Monday, February 16th. (We do not know the exact time of the skate but will update registrants as soon as we receive the information).  There is a maximum of 40 Special Hockey players and volunteers for this event.

It is likely that MN Wild players will attend but their presence and timing is not guaranteed.

Registration closes on Sunday, January 25th.  No late registrations will be allowed.
Please do not register unless you are sure you can attend this event.
This is open to both players and volunteers. A couple of coaches are needed for this event, so coaches are encouraged to register if they can attend.
Players will receive a jersey.  Volunteers will not receive a jersey.
If there are too many people that register, prior will be given to people that have never attended and have volunteered with MSH.  After those priorities, a drawing will be held. Everyone will be contacted on Monday, January 26th.

3. Hockey Day Lakeville - Register by January 18th

MN Special Hockey has been invited to skate at Hockey Day Lakeville. This is a great opportunity to showcase the MN Special Hockey program and will be a lot of fun!

MN Special Hockey will skate on Saturday, January 31st starting around 4:30 (exact time TBD) at Lakeville Hasse Arena, 8525 215th Street W, Lakeville MN 55044.  If you register, please commit to attending.

More information (time of the game, off-ice events and fun activities, etc.) will be provided closer to the event. More information can be found here: https://www.lakevillehockey.org/page/show/4312062-hockey-day-lakeville

If too many players register, the Lakeville team will have priority and a drawing will be held for the remaining spots.

Register here to attend (do not reply on the SportsEngine App):  https://mnspecialhockey.sportngin.com/register/form/056854308

4. Game Day and Jamboree Reminders

Minnesota Special Hockey is proud to have players of all skill levels on all of its 18 teams.  With a wide range of skill amongst the players, as well as a varying number of players on each team, oftentimes on game days some players may be asked to switch teams by the coaches. This is discussed and decided by the coaches, and the purpose is to try to even the matchup, create equal playing time for all athletes, and make the game even more fun.

We understand that a key part of Minnesota Special Hockey is the friendships made amongst teammates. Sometimes players may be upset if a teammate or two switches teams for a day, but know that this is a decision made by the coaches to try to make the game more even and make it a better game experience for everyone on both teams.

This is also true for Jamboree games, which have teams formed by level of play (A, A/B, B/C, and C). It is understandable that players want to stick with their teammates and friends; however, Jamboree games allow for like-skilled players to play together which ultimately results in better game play, players touching the puck more equally, and increased hockey skills.

5. Minnesota Special Hockey Logo

As was addressed in the December 10th newsletter, there has been a small change to the Minnesota Special Hockey logo. The only change was the removal of the word "Wild" from the logo which was made to ensure all Minnesota Diversified Hockey programs remain separate from the Minnesota Wild from a legal standpoint. This small change does not reflect any change in the Minnesota Wild's generous and continued support of Minnesota Special Hockey and its athletes and families. Beyond the slight variation of the Minnesota Special Hockey logo going forward, nothing else will change and the Minnesota Wild remains a proud supporter of all Minnesota Diversified Hockey programs.  If you have any questions or concerns about the logo, please do not contact anyone within the MN Wild organization. Any questions or concerns should be sent to Holly Tchida, MN Special Hockey Program Director, at: holly.tchida@mnspecialhockey.org
