1. IIHF World Juniors Championship Information and Opportunities

The IIHF World Junior Championship is being held at Grand Casino Arena and 3M Arena (at Mariucci) from December 26th – January 5th.  Starting in 2010, the United States has won this tournament 6 times.  The Canadians have only won 5 times.  More info here:  https://www.iihf.com/en/events/2026/wm20

There is a free immersive interactive experience inside (Saint Paul RiverCentre) and outdoors (Rice Park).  It will be busy with many excited hockey fans!

MN Special Hockey players and volunteers have an opportunity to enjoy the Minnesota Wild synthetic ice rink (40x60) on Saturday January 3rd from 1:00-3:00.  Play on this surface is with athletic shoes only.  No gear is necessary, sticks and balls/pucks will be provided.  With this requirement, this time is for casual play, not competition.  A waiver will need to be signed in order to participate.

Because this is a small area, registration is required.  Link to register: https://mnspecialhockey.sportngin.com/register/form/586107657

Registration closes on December 31st.

Minnesota Diversified Hockey is hosting a table during the tournament at the RiverCentre.  Please contact Jane Cashin at jane.cashin@mnspecialhockey.org if you are interested in volunteering at this table.

Parking may be a challenge during this event.  MSH is not reimbursing families for parking.

2. Extra Ice - Sunday Dec. 28th - Register by Dec. 23rd

MSH has a couple extra hours of ice time on Sunday, December 28th. A number of coaches have committed to leading a practice/scrimmage to provide a skating opportunity for the players.

Players that require 1-on-1 assistance on the ice or the bench are required to make sure there is someone there to help. This volunteer must be registered with MSH.

Players must register by Tuesday, December 23rd to attend one of these events.

A/B level players are invited to skate at MN Made in Edina (South Rink) from 9:30 - 10:50.

B/C level players are invited to skate at Braemar Arena in Edina (East Rink) from 10:30 - 11:30.

Volunteers: if you are able to attend, please register! Or you can email jane@mnspecialhockey.org.
