MSH will have a table outside of Rink #2 at the lower level.  Stop here for any questions and:

Player medals will be handout out after their last games on Saturday.  Please do not remove your skates and come immediately out to open space outside the rink for this ceremony.

2. Apparatus on the Ice

Until USA Hockey finalizes rules for having apparatus on the ice this is what will be enforced by MN Special Hockey for games/scrimmages:

Trainers and chairs are allowed on the ice with the following rules:

  1. They must be removed from the ice when not in use (in between shifts)
  2. Volunteers pushing a chair must:
    1. not participate aggressively
    2. be in complete control
    3. be able to back away from potential collisions.
  3. Players using an apparatus must participate in games/jamborees with the lowest ability levels of play.

3. Game/Jamboree Play

Many of the rules/suggestions need to be worked by the coaches at the time of the games/jamborees all depending on the level of play.

On ice volunteers playing the puck should be limited to lower level games and when providing opportunities to players to get a “touch” or in lopsided shifts.

During games and jamborees,if the number of players on each team is lopsided then encourage players to switch teams to get more ice time and balance the game.

Jamborees:

  • Upper level play will call obvious icing and offsides.
  • In order to maximize ice time, line changes will not have faceoffs stopping the play.
  • There will be faceoffs after a goal.  This is a good time to change lines if the timing is good.
