Minnesota Special hockey is proud to announce that Hannah Poshek was selected as the Minnesota Special Hockey Athlete of the Year. Each year MN Special Hockey selects an athlete of the year. This athlete is then also nominated for the USA Hockey Disabled Hockey Athlete of the Year.

Hannah was diagnosed with epilepsy at 13 months old after having fifty to a hundred absence seizures a day. She also has been diagnosed with ADHD, a developmental delay and a flat foot disorder.

Hannah is in her eighth season as a member of the team in Alexandria, one of the first to sign up when Minnesota Special Hockey expanded to the area.

When Hannah first started playing she had limited skating experience. Through the course of her hockey career she has improved her skill-set and continues to be an example of what Minnesota Special hockey is all about. Hannah also is a frequent singer of the national anthem at games and special events. She is a great teammate and a very social player.

During activities with Minnesota Special Hockey, she has had the opportunity to skate with Olympic hockey legends, current and past NHL and NWHL players, collegiate athletes and have participated in international and national hockey tournaments in Detroit, MI and Chicago, IL. It is through her love of hockey that she also is the star of her own comic book, "Playing Sports with Epilepsy". She was featured in the book with former Olympian Chanda Gunn.

Please help celebrate this fabulous hockey player on her outstanding nomination.
