Minnesota Special Hockey is delighted to announce that Mallory Masherall and Jonathan Urban have been selected as the recipients of 2017's Volunteer Scholarship. Both volunteers were selected for their dedication to Minnesota Special Hockey and our athletes, as well as their love of the game of hockey and the community it creates. We couldn't be prouder.

Mallory has been a dedicated volunteer for three years and will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison this year to pursue a degree in biology and eventually a career as a Physician's Assistant. About her experience as an MSH volunteer, Mallory says, "The overall atmosphere of the team during games and practice is so positive. When anyone scores a goal, from either team, every single person in the arena cheers and showers the player with compliments. This makes each player illuminate and want to do the same for others. The positive atmosphere of inclusion these kids show made me redefine my definition of success and helped me gain an even deeper enjoyment of the sport I love."

Jonathan is a dedicated volunteer for the New Hope Raptors who helps on-ice with running drills, organizing equipment, teaching skills to players, and helping players understand the drills and expectations for the team. Jonathan loves the players and says that MSH has shown him that individuals with different needs are "very dedicated and hard-working, that they are very positive, and that they never complain," bringing him real joy when it comes to playing hockey with MSH players. Jonathan will be heading to Colorado this fall to attend the University of Denver to pursue a degree in Film and Media Production.

Thanks, Mallory and Jonathan, for all that you have done for MSH! Good luck at college! And thank you to all of our incredible volunteers for your dedication and passion. We look forward to seeing you on the ice next season!
