MediKids Comic Book Explains Sports Life With Epilepsy

Muskies player Hannah Poshek is a super hero. For real.

Over the past year Hannah has become one of the faces of the MediKids comic book series which explains living with epilepsy. Her comic book is titled "Medikidz Explain Playing Sports with Epilepsy".

In the comic book, after experiencing a seizure during a hockey game, Hannah almost gives up on her dream of playing hockey. To help Hannah see that epilepsy doesn’t mean you have to quit being active, the Medikidz travel back in time to see professional and Olympic Gold Medalist hockey player, Chanda Gunn, who is Hannah’s age. Hannah gives Chanda confidence to keep playing, despite her seizures. Fast forward to present day and Chanda is able to return the favor.

In real life, Hannah has met Chanda a few times. During an earlier visit Chanda brought a camera crew along to make a promotional video. You can watch the video below.

The comic book was released in April during the National Walk for Epilepsy in Washington D.C. Hannah and her parents were able to attend as Minnesota representatives and to promote the comic book.

Hannah was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2005. At the time of her diagnosis, Hannah was having 50 to 100 seizures per day but has since gotten them under control and has been without major issue for well over a year and a half. Since her diagnosis, the Posheks have been involved in the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota.
